Five Things to remember as you transition into adulthood.

#1 Defend your honor. Set your standards high and don’t put yourself in vulnerable situations where you’ll be tempted to trade your integrity for short-term reward or relief. Nothing is more valuable than your character and good name.

#2  Request help right away when you need it.  It’s not a sign of a matter of fact, most people love it when they are asked for advice, assistance, an opinion or a shoulder to cry on. Life is a team sport- don’t deny others the opportunity to be essential participants in it.

#3 Live openly and bravely. Imagine yourself starting each new day throwing open the windows to your mind, your heart and your soul. Listen to others with patience, tolerance and respect.  Embrace the adventure of life.  Say “yes” more than you say “no.”

#4 Manage time. Don’t save things for the last minute. Practice punctuality. Be that person others can always count on. Live up to your commitments-fully. Set aside personal moments every week  for rest, reflection & rejuvenation.

#5 Be grateful..every day.  Gratitude is the antidote to self pity, self-loathing and self destruction. You can always find something to thank the good Lord for.

And oh yeah…

 have fun!

When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.
