In honor of the Florida Primary today, here are FIVE interesting nuggets about the state:
#1- Florida was the third state to secede from the Union in 1861.
#2-Canadians spend over 14 BILLION dollars a year in Florida and buy more real estate there than any other foreigners; 89% paying cash for their homes.
#3- 70 percent of Miami’s population is Hispanic. 54 percent Cuban, about 13 percent of are from Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Mexico, and 32 percent are from other Central and South American countries such as Guatemala, Colombia, El Salvador, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Honduras and Brazil. 66 percent of Miami’s Latinos are foreign born.
#4-Walt Disney Resort encompasses 40 square miles, bigger than Manhattan (33.7).
#5- One Republican candidate will win all of Florida’s 99 delegates in the winner-take-all primary.
On the Democratic side, Florida is worth 246 delegates. The party uses the proportional method.
** Never understood why both parties do all this primary stuff so differently…And honestly, I’m care less about it every day. 😕
