Do you eat alligator pears?

Well, you should!

Alligator pears are avocados..which are on my brain this week as they were on sale at COSTCO last week.  Of course when you buy anything at COSTCO, you’d better love ’em cause you’ll be bringing home enough to feed an army.

So here is some avocado case you went to COSTCO too.

The Aztecs used to call the avocado tree “ahuacati” or the testicle tree. 😂 (God love those Aztecs ..never realized they had such a great sense of humor…did you?)

Avocados are not vegetables, they are single berry fruit.

Avocados are incredibly fruit contains 975 mg of potassium-a banana only  contains 487. They also have 4 grams of protein and 81 mcg of lutein which is good for eye health.

One avocado is about 300 calories.

Rudolph Haas, an American mailman, patented his Haas avocado  in 1935. That original tree is still bearing fruit and  Haas is of course one of the most popular varieties of avocado today.

The Haas “mother tree.”

Just as an aside, I smash a bit of avocado on my sandwich instead of mayo. If I have an extra second, I’ll mash in a few drops of my infused olive oils like the Chipotle.- YUMMY!
