Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
After being gone for a week on business with a quick trip home to Florida, my husband and I finally arrived back at our temporary apartment in Charlotte last night. As we squeezed into the tiny elevator with our heavy bags, I told him I felt a little like a roaming gypsy.
This is just an unsettled period in our lives right now, and while I really do wish I was more like the care-free birds described in this verse- simply living day to day- (worm by worm) … honestly, I’d make a terrible bird. My need to be anchored, to have a home base, to feel secure, to have a plan and to store “seeds” for tomorrow is very strong. And yet, God clearly tells us that while it’s fine to settle down, grow roots and work towards the futures we are dreaming of, we need to ultimately place our trust in Him and be open to “new nests, new branches and new migration destinations.” 😉
