Eye contact- Good or Bad?

A study by the journal Psychological Science found that people are more easily persuaded when they don’t look the person talking to them straight in the eyes. Too much eye contact can come across as too aggressive… Hmmm, very interesting.  I’ll have to try that next time I want to persuade my husband of something..maybe I’ll just text him while he’s watching a game on TV…and his team is winning of course. 😜

  1. Maintaining eye contact is quite useful when sending a “serious message” – ie employee disciplinary meetings. Or, if I’m talking to a manager that starts to try to be a little bullying, I hold that eye contact and stand up. Seems to help reposition the power. (Wearing 5″ heels and suddenly becoming 5’10” when I stand up doesn’t hurt either. Heh.)
