Southern Style Meatloaf

Down-Home-Meat-Loaf-OR

  • 2 Lbs. ground chuck
  • 1 lb mild pork sausage
  • 1/2 medium finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 medium finely chopped green pepper
  • 2 TBSP Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 & 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 & 1/2 cups breadcrumbs
  • 1 bottle chili sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 TBSP Italian parsley

In a large bowl, combine chuck and sausage.  Add onion, green pepper, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper and garlic.  In a separate bowl, beat egg and milk together, then add to meat mixture. Add bread crumbs.

Mix entire meatloaf mixture with hands until combined.

Place in shallow baking pan, and shape into a loaf.

In the small bowl, combine chili sauce and brown sugar. Pour half of it on top of meatloaf.

Bake for about an hour (you can use meat thermometer to test for doneness.)

Let rest 10-15 minutes before cutting, serve with remaining glaze.
